ComingSoon.Net is reporting that Mattel is looking into new properties...

quote:

Vulture has posted an interesting bit of news saying that Mattel is developing a new toy line about an alien civilization that's been living in the depths of Earth's oceans.

According to the site, "Mattel challenged its designers to come up with a new toy line that could simultaneously be turned into a TV show, feature film, or game, for the ultimate branding weapon."

The aquatic alien idea was reportedly the one they went with and the company has partnered with producer Neal H.Moritz, who will soon start looking for screenwriters.

Mattel and Moritz's representatives would not confirm the development to Vulture.

Wouldn't it be nice if it has something to do with this...

It may not be the announcement you're expecting, but it will be a positive announcement about a move that we're making with good reason, and it will be followed very soon thereafter by another somewhat unexpected, but extremely positive announcement.

There's probably no connection, since it sounds like Mattel is probably wanting something in-house and the 4H properties aren't, but if Mattel is really looking to create some new franchises, there are some franchises right under their nose...

Would be very nice, indeed.

And though not likely, it would also be nice if some of these got to creep in:

Although properties/designs by the Four Horsemen may not be a true "in house" franchise, depending on the contract, Mattel may be able to claim it as their own. (Partnerships, buy-outs, etc.)

I'm right 98% of the time.
Who cares about the other 3%.

Very interesting indeed!

Wasn't Mattel circling one of the 4H lines a while back? I think it was hinted at Symbiotech?

Still want this guy! I've voted for him every time.

Well, you could always just tiptoe into the 4H studios and sneak him away:

Look at those Magma Corps figures on the bottom shelf just looking at me and taunting me.

I should have voted Magma Corps....it still would have lost, but at least it would have lost by a lot more.

I've said it before, but I'm pretty sure I'm voting Magma C.O.R.P.S. all the way next time.

while this would be awesome for the horsemen i don't know how much i can really care about an under the sea kingdom movie, sure if they designed the stuff it would be cool looking but i think it's easy to say we're all pretty invested in the 7th Kingdom here and that would be my property of choice to get made into "something more"
