| Yeah but take the transformers under them away and what do you have? They are creating accessories that are inherently dependent on the products of another company. Titanium Ultra magnus was its completely own figure. Classics magnus was packed in a two pack with skywarp, target exclusive too. Yeah it was a simple and cheap repaint, but it was better than not getting them. |

And, by that same argument, that's why these are not a knockoff. They aren't replacing the figure. They're adding to them. You must buy the official product from the real company in order to use these accessories.
And ... for another property ... here's the Custom MOTU Staction thread ...
http://www.fantasticexclusive.com/fforum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2743&whichpage=1
Now, is that ripping off MOTU? Or, is that a fan project that's keeping fan interest alive ... and maybe the reason why MOTUC not only got released but got released as a "collector's oriented" line?
EDIT:
Also, as to the Magnus/Skywarp 2-pack ... I saw a lot of them wind up on Clearance because there wasn't much demand at the time. But, now that the City Commander armor set is available ... demand seems to have suddenly spiked as those, who had previously passed on the figure, now try to get one to go with the armor. So, again ... seems that it's increasing demand for the official product ... instead of taking away from it. |

| They went on clearance because Target only keeps those items for a certain amount of time. They flew off shelves when they were coming out. Trust me. Not because of Magnus. Because of Skywarp. Magnus was the happy bonus. |

I see this point, but I think ultimately it helps Hasbro more than it hurts it, and in a way could make them better.
I'm with the Icker here. Going back to the aftermarket auto parts comparison, all kinds of tuner outfits build parts to make your car faster, stronger, more unique, or your own personal definition of "better." With stuff like what Fansproject does, it's much the same. It might be something that the original builder made for the public, but at least the public gets access to it if it wants it.
I'm VERY supportive of the current TF development and design staff...they're just coming up with some excellent stuff right now with Animated and Universe 2.0. But if an aftermarket company is able to on its own, build quality ancillary enhancement, more power to them.
The Classics Prime mold was an excellent design...but many fans were bothered that the Magnus release didn't get a trailer or armor. I actually didn't think a quality armor set was possible, and then FP did it. Things like this can inspire TF designers to try something similar or better with upcoming projects.
Every now and then, companies' hands are tied from going the extra mile to make a toy outstanding...Magnus didn't get armor, Prime doesn't get a trailer or Roller, etc. Stuff like the City Commander set can do things that Hasbro couldn't for some reason, without really blocking the way for the original toy. |

Maybe. But being stupid will probably never feel that good.
(At least not in the action figure sense... ) |

Ebon, how much are you looking to pay for City Commander? I'm thinking about selling my set with Classics Ultra Magnus. Let me know if you're interested. |

Yeah. "Stupidity" never before looked soooooo good sitting on that toy shelf!

It sounds like they did well in that area. In my area, they were warming pegs. Lots of sets available on clearance. Moreso than the G.I. Joe Ultimate Battle Packs (which at least came with a new tank). But, in stark contrast to the Star Wars Ultimate Battle Packs (which mostly featured new, available-nowhere else) vehicles ... which rarely lasted more than a couple of weeks. Certainly not long enough to make it to clearance.

And, I suspect that, had either 1) this fan project armor been available at the same time or 2) Hasbro actually made this type of armor itself, Magnus would have been the main draw ... with Skywarp the "happy bonus" ... since, then an armored Magnus would have been something very different. |

So, I finally scored a Universe Inferno. Man, the coolness of current Transformers is like a Terminator: "It can't be bargained with, it can't be reasoned with, it doesn't feel pity, remorse or fear. And it absolutely will not stop!" Er...yeah.
The vehicle mode is damn near seamless, and while I'm not a stickler for transformation schemes, his is pretty unique. The design of the robot mode, especially the face sculpt is so classically well-done, its look rockets you straight back to the days of Diaclone.
Man, the new figures of Hound, Cyclonus and now Inferno deliver on what I hoped for and wasn't sure would ever happen: figures that had the classic design from the great G1 days, with aesthetics and articulation brought higher thanks to modern engineering. Just great, great figures getting delivered right now. |

my ONLY complaint about inferno is his belt waist/bumber thingee..hopw it just sorta hangs there...
also if you lok at the head they hasve the inferno head wings on there too sorta swept backwards.a really cool effect amd homage the orginal. |
