So I was reading Poe Ghostal's Christmas figures article on his website, and it got me motivated to finally take some pictures of my Christmas figure display and get them posted.
Years ago, I started collecting anything related to the 1964 Rankin Bass T.V. special "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer". Needless to say, as a "collector", the addiction spun quickly out of control and I ended up with tons of Rudolph stuff....we have all been there.
So through the years, I made a display base for some of the figures and in evolved into a pretty big base. I set it up every year (its a b&tch to store), which is fun because this is the closest I get to display much of any action figures in our house.
Anyhow, here are a few of the pictures. If you want to see more, then you can see them by clicking here.
The room they are in is tiny and lit bad, so getting good quality pictures is a pain. My buddy just got a wide angle lens for his Nikon, so that helped a bit. The funny thing is....the stuff in the pictures is only a small part of the collection, I have tons of stuff boxed up with no where to go......I guess they will always be misfit toys.

That's a great display. I love the effect all lit up. I'm a bit of a scrooge, but I can get behind a display like that. What's that house at the top of your display? Is it a Rankin Bass toy as well?
Now I have the snow miser song stuck in my head.
I'm mister white christmas I'm mister snow I'm mister icicle Mister 10 below Friends call me snow miser, Whatever I touch Turns to snow in my clutch I'm too much!

Thanks Matt....its the closest I get to "customizing".
The castle is the castle from the movie. It works out good.

Whenever people come over, they have the same comment as you....they feel like they should be more into Christmas. So that makes me feel like I suceeded. |

So what is this Christmas every one talks of?
Very nice display. I love the base / table. Is a stand alone piece or is it a 3D cover that fits over a table? |

Thanks Tek. The base uses the legs of a coffee table that is always in that room.....but the actual "snow" landscape part is a whole different piece that sets on top of the coffe table. The footprint of it is about 8'x4' and about 3' tall at its highest point. Its all carved out of styrofoam....and then tons of paper mache to blend it together. Even though its so big, it actually weighs very little because of the styrofoam.
Thanks for the commercial link, I had not seen that one.

I would, but its hard to go that route when we always have a bunch of friends and family bring their kids over every year to see the display. I dont need to have to explain what a "Mr. Hanky" is to anyone. This is also the reason I have passed so far on the Twisted Christmas figures. |

That's amazing, Dwaltrip! Color me green with envy. I've just got my few Christmas figures sitting on the top of a bookshelf ;)
What is the "snow" display stand made from?
